I love my village

Yesterday while watching my oldest son Isaac play his 7 on 7 football games ( poor Jacob had to stay home because he was recovering from the flu ) I looked down at the field at these three men who are volunteering their time to coach my sons.  I felt so grateful. These men are teaching my boys something that I can't. Which got me thinking even more about how essential my village has been to raising my 4 children. Teachers, coaches, neighbors, Preachers, aunts, uncles, grandparents.. Its like my own personal parenting team. I mentioned in my last blog about how I rock this mom thing, which is true, but I couldn't do it without my village. Sometimes I don't know what to do, so I go and seek help. Sometimes from my sister, sometimes from my neighbor, and sometimes from teachers or coaches. I seek help, listen, pray, and do the best I can. Also, all these people are my eyes and ears when I'm not around. There have been a couple of times that someone in my village overheard, or witnessed my kids not upholding to the standards that Matt and I expect out of our kids. Guess what, my village without hesitation will step in when I'm not present and correct my children for me. I guess to some people, they would find this offensive. But I trust everyone I have let into my circle, and we know each other's boundaries. My kids also know that they are constantly being watched, and mom and dad will find out if they dare ever to misbehave.  It is so important in my opinion to have these relationships. My kids can learn so much from everyone in our circle, our village. I love that I have such a close, personal, trusting bond with all of them that we come together and help raise our kids. Momma's I recommend that you find your village and hold them close, love them and let them know how much you appreciate them with the support of raising your sweet family. Because in my experience it really does Take a village to raise a child.
